HEY GUYS. I haven’t posted here a lot, but I hope to get back in the swing of things and start responding to questions as we get closer to leaky. You’ll see me around *everywhere* during the con, and I hope that I can be a friendly face for you to ask anything / get all the hugs you could ever want.
I’m here now to post about the OatC situation that has clearly got a lot of people upset, and speak from my own experience in 2011.
First: I totally understand why you guys are upset. It seems like the rug was pulled out from underneath you, and $150 is a lot of money. That’s a lot of merch that you could be buying instead! However, lets try to keep the language calm and collected and remember that there *are* people on the other side of the computer trying their hardest to make LC as great as possible. Complain until you can complain no more, but try to be calm about it! More flies with honey, and all of that.

Second: The lines for these rides are VERY COOL. To be entirely honest, running through with no one in them kind of sucks, because the line for hogwarts is one of the coolest things ever made. You’re literally walking through hogwarts. There are holograms and magic and it’s really great. I wouldn’t say five hours of great, but it’s really nice to be standing in line with people that you know also love hogwarts. I’m sure the gringrotts experience in similar.
Third: I don’t actually remember going on any rides at the OatC event in 2011. I remember eating food, drinking butterbeer, and wandering around all of the shops with my friends. I remember going into the owlery and buying tons of postcards and writing twenty postcards to my closest friends (including the new friends I’d made at leakycon THAT DAY) and sending them BECAUSE THEY PUT A STAMP FROM *HOGWARTS* on the letters. FROM HOGWARTS.
Overall, if you choose to keep your ticket you’re going to have an amazing time. It’s going to be hot (even at 2am it’s going to be hot), it’s going to be sticky, and you are going to be full of butterbeer. You’ll have to stand in lines for a little longer than you wanted, but because of the sheer number of us in the park (me included!) you’re going to be surrounded by people that you can have any conversation with and talk about harry potter until you’re blue in the face. Hanging out in the shadow of hogwarts is for hours with friends in 2011 is one of the greatest memories I have of that leakycon, and I wasn’t in line for a ride or looking forward to getting on one.
I KNOW that this isn’t going to make you feel a ton better about the situation, but I hope it makes you think and remember that you’re going to be IN THE PARK no matter what, with amazing people. I’ll be there!
